Last minute gifts, or even well thought-out presents can always be brought to perfection by, the one-and-only addition hardly anyone can resist. In other words: who does not drool over signature truffles, cream filled pralines or anything edible touched by, what we call chocolate?
Cocoa, from which chocolate is created, is said to have originated, from the deep tropical Amazon, at least 4,000 years ago. Valentine’s Day is not that old, but probably as widely spread and celebrated, as the gift that is delivered the most on Cupid’s holiday, the event that attracts attention to all the wonderful matters of the heart. There is no doubt about it: Valentine’s Day is synonymous with chocolate. The delicious substance will be conveyed as well shaped kissing lips, butterflies, hearts, or maybe even as the ancient Cherub of love himself.
The Aztecs attributed the creation of the cocoa plant to their god Quetzalcoatl. He stole a cocoa tree from paradise, and carried it, descending from the heavens on the light beam of a morning star. If the Gods are that fanatic about something so delicious, it is only natural to show our adored and respected mothers the same kind of appreciation on their big day. Mother’s Day can indeed be so much more festive by giving your ‘mum’ a gift box of exquisite shells of chocolate, which are filled with rich flavored mousse centers. Some may even have hazelnuts, cherries, and strawberries in the middle.
People in many cultures celebrate the anniversary of their birth with elaborate parties. If premium chocolate is not part of the cake decoration, it will probably show up somewhere on the buffet or dessert table, if not, maybe among the many gifts. It is not the first time a present is filled with an assortment of mouthwatering delights. A great example is a black silk covered jewelry box with pralines straight from Belgium. Believe me, if you look long enough, you will find it!
Throughout the years, the leaders in the confectionery industry have recognized that the way chocolate is presented is as important as the treat itself. Designer packaging, couture gift bags, perfectly shaped boxes and shiny foil lining, colourful ribbons and bows have been manufactured to put even more emphasis on their fine confection products. Optimizing display possibilities will definitely lead to more sales, and happier clients.
The endless indulgence of chocolate can be brought to the table at any time of the year. Just think about Easter bunnies, father’s day message squares, miniature baby-themed solids in a clear container, Christmas delights, wedding favors, Saint Nicolas statues, chocolate drinks, sweet temptations shaped as numbers, ties or 3D objects and cartoon characters. Uniquely rich, airy texture or solid, sweetened or not, dark, light or white, chocolate can be presented plain or with a variety of creams, fruits and nuts. Wouldn’t you agree that there is a chocolate for every occasion?
